Case Studies

Bradley Mill – Skipton

This development consisted of brick vaults to separate the floors. An acoustic test was carried out before the specification was given to the customer, due to the mass of the vaults.

The material was then tailored to meet the customers requirements using a floating floor system above the vaults whilst maintaining the curve of the ceilings using timber battens and resilient bars below. Acoustic plasterboard was then installed, followed by the creation of separating walls using a very thin metal stud wall, which achieved excellent results without altering the authentic feel of the mill.

The Gables – Norland, Halifax

This prestigious development incorporated a part new build, part conversion apartment block. Existing timber floors and new block and beam floors were replaced with an acoustic floating floor which was installed on top of the existing floorboards combined with an MF ceiling system.

The ceiling system consisted of a substantial void, dense insulation and a double layer of dense plasterboard. A system was also tailored to suit the project using acoustic battens with acoustic felt above the flooring with the same MF system below. All the applied systems exceeded Part E of the Building Regulations.

Eshton Hall – Gargrave, Skipton

This development consisted of the conversion of a listed stately home and the building of a number of houses. A specialist thin acoustic floor board was installed achieving excellent impact results and the walls were created using a metal stud and resilient bar system at a minimum thickness to maintain the room size.

In order to achieve the Building Regulations the existing stone walls were lined with a metal system and insulated.
